Ironically, it was the Mustangs they defeated in Saturdayís semis, 68-67, en route to Sundayís finals clash with the Falcons.

But the basketball faithful who trooped to the USLS venue anticipating an exciting title clash were disappointed as the Generals led by 20 points several times in the match as Adamson, mentored by former PBA star William ĎBogsí Adornado, struggled offensively.

Forward Ronjay Buenafe led EAC with 28 points while Alain Musni and Chester Ebuen chipped in with 17 and 14 points, respectively for Coach Nomer Islaís charges.

The all-around Miguel Pacheco and guard Marvin Poloyapoy finished with 16 points apiece in Adamsonís losing effort.

Meanwhile, dethroned champion WNC Mustangs settled for second runner-up honors after they drubbed the University of Iloilo Wildcats, 81-72, in battle for third place.

The Mustangs, mentored by Dennis Tumayan, finished with a balanced offensive with three-point specialist Vengie Vergara topscoring with 19 points.

Other scorers were point guard Stanley Tizon with 13, swingman Ely Olarte and Bernard Suante with 10 apiece, Joel Deocadiz with 8 while Winrich Posoc, Alfie Villariza and slotman Vergilio Dapar added 6 points each and Rundy Baydo 3.

Meanwhile, the USLS football squad retained its menís football title after posting a 5-4 victory via a penalty shootout over Nopsscea tormentor West Negros College after both sides played to a scoreless draw at the end of regulation and the 20-minute extension periods.

Jason Panhay, Emerson Campo, Arnie Pasinabo, Carlos Bolo, Jr. and Floriano Pacilan converted their penalty kicks for USLS while WNCís Jeram Calvo missed out on his kick as the ball sailed past the left post.

University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos finished third after a 1-0 victory over De La Salle University courtesy of a goal by Sharr Llera making it a 1-2-3 finish for local squads in this yearís Unigames menís football competition.

Meanwhile, San Beda College took 27 gold medals, 7 silvers and 4 bronzes to retain its menís swimming crown while De La Salle University dethroned University of the Philippines in the womenís contest with its 4-5-4 gold-silver-bronze tally.
