SAN JUAN City Colegio de San Juan de Letran relied on the solid games of Larry Muyang and Jerrick Balanza in the second half to rout Arellano University, 88-70, in the featured game from the 94th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre. The frontline duo powered the Knights' charge that broke the game wide open. READ MORE

Very satisfying win versus the Chiefs. Now, we go for the jugular against the Red Lions.

    Arriba Letran!

    4 - 3

Back to back heartbreakers. Isama mo pa yung opening game loss. Three games where our boys choked in the closing seconds. Ginto nanaging bato.

So now all our 3 losses are from the teams above us in the standings puting us at #4 position. We are again in danger of missing the busas csb and au are coming in strong.

Sayang! We could have given Lpu (and sbc) their first loss...one of them wll go undefeated.

    Abangan😁

    Unhappy

SAN JUAN City Lyceum of the Philippines University survived a major test by downing Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 87-82, and move to within a game of sweeping the first round of the 94th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the FilOil Flying V Centre Friday. The Pirates rallied from as much as 11 points down in the fourth and closed the game on a 17-4 run for their eighth win in a row. READ MORE

Those last two losses were heartbreakers -- the last one against Lyceum especially so. Bad calls, two crucial errors and a missed rebound in the endgame, missed free throws, all spelled doom for the Knights.

Key takeaway from the losses, though, was that we can go toe-to-toe with these guys.

    Kaya pa iyan. Arriba!

Those two turnovers were mind boggling. Quinto's inbound TO and Ballanza's dribbling TO. All they had to do was take care of the ball. Instead they threw it all. Letran shot themselves in the foot.

Malakas yung team niyo..and it will get better in the years to come lalo na pag nagmature na si Ambohot! My favorite non Red Lion player in the NCAA.Kudos to coach Napa for bagging this kid for the Knights!

^There are a lot of skilled players in the current team, Ambohot among them. I just wish they have more mental toughness in the end-game to finish off opponents. Calvo, Ambohot and Quinto have shown flashes of this, but we need them to be consistent. We also need them to trust one another more and work as a team, together with new guys Muyang, Fajarito, Batiller, and Yu.

Re Coach Jeff, I think it's universally acknowledged (even by his detractors in the Letran community) that his forte is recruitment. I'm just not sure whether Ambohot was one of his recruits, or if this was due to Coach Aldin.

SAN JUAN City Colegio de San Juan de Letran needed a second period surge coupled with the brilliance of Bong Quinto to dispose of Emilio Aguinalo College, 76-56, in continuing action from the 94th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Friday at the FilOil Flying V Centre. Quinto registered a triple double for the second game in a row as the Knights closed out their first round with a 6-3 win-loss card. READ MORE
