MANILA, Philippines – Actor Rustom Padilla, now known as BB Gandanghari, chose to evade questions whether he already had a sex-change operation or not.
According to rumors, Gandanghari has had a sex change operation, although he declined to confirm this in interviews.
Speaking with ABS-CBN News on Sunday, Gandanghari said he thinks it would be better if people would not prod him anymore about that issue.
“As much as I want to comment pero I don’t want to comment kasi talaga it’s really very personal to me. Sana iwan niyo na sa akin iyon. Kung ano man ang kapirasong iyon, akin na lang iyon,” he said.
Gandanghari returned to the Philippines in early March after spending two years in New York.
Asked if all is well between him and his family now, Gandanghari said: “I’m okay with some, not so okay with some. Malungkot na hindi masyadong okay sa lahat.”
“Ang pinakamasakit 'yung may mga pagkakataon na magsasama-sama ang pamilya tapos hindi ka na nakakapunta or hindi ka part,” he confessed.
Gandanghari, however, said he is glad to have the support of his mother.
“Of course I’m happy. Importante naman na nagkakaintindihan kayo ng nanay niyo eh. With that, I’m very happy,” he said.
Gandanghari said he is still hoping that his family will understand him and accept things as they are.
“Kung ano man ang maliliit na problema, siguro darating na rin ang punto na maaayos na rin iyon in the long run. Hindi na lang siguro minamadali,” he said.
Gandanghari said he is just leaving everything up to God.
“As much as it pains me to know na may mga taong malalapit sa akin na may mga reservations about sa pagkatao mo, but pinagpapasa-Diyos ko na lang. Maybe one day we’ll be okay,” he said.
Meanwhile, Gandanghari admitted he is willing to make the first move to patch things up with brother Robin Padilla.
“Hindi ako magpapakaplastik but I don’t want to comment any further but it really pains me. Nasasaktan ako. Sa akin kasi walang problema eh. As far as I can remember, I was talking to him until I realized na may problema pala,” he said.
“But, of course, kung magkakaroon ng panahon and kung magkikita kami, I’ll be the first one to talk to him. Wala na ang pride, kinakalimutan ko na ang pride na iyan. Ang nasa isip ko na lang sana one maayos at magkaintindihan,” Gandanghari added.
In a previous interview, Padilla, without going into details, said he is “shocked” with his brother and admitted that things are not well between them.
Proud of Carmina
Aside from his family, Gandanghari said he is also looking forward to the day when he and his former wife, actress Carmina Villaroel, would be given the chance to talk.
“Wala pa kaming pagkakataon na magkita ulit ni Carmina but I’m looking forward. Siguro one day magkukrus din ang landas namin and magkakamustahan kami personal,” he said.
Gandanghari said he is proud of what Villaroel has achieved through the years.
“I’m also proud of her. She’s really doing good. I’m really happy for her, her family, her children, her husband. I only wish her well,” he said.
