^ Any kid that good, no way he'd settle for a Philippine school where he has to wait two years. He could easily play Division III or maybe Division II ball.

I wonder how Adamson will adjust next season given the loss of the mirror-image point guards in Canada and Alvarez to graduation. Losing them will have a tremendous effect in the way the Falcons do their plays.

Probably Marty Pearce (FEU) and Earvin Jose (Don Bosco) might replace the point guard duties left by Canada and Alvarez. Any news also on the ff. recruits:

    > Justin Deans
    > Don Trollano (from UE)
    > Vince Tinte (from UST)
    > Nestor Bantayan
    > Eric Cabigas (ADMU-Davao)

November 22, sa San Juan Arena.

We had a head start in this game. At one time we had a glorious 3rd place finish in the World Championship and was the undisputed power in Asia. But the world has learned how to play it. They may not be as good as us,but they have enough smarts to make use of their height. That is enough to beat us.

Tinte, Bantayan and Cabigas all played in the last Fr Martin Cup Division 2 where the B Falcons finished runner-up to San Beda B. Cabigas saw the most minutes and plays guard, might be 5'11" or 6-flat, good enough athlete but nowhere near Nuyles. Jerico Cruz is the true star of Adamson B. Bantayan saw limited minutes at both forward spots. Tinte was barely used, wasting his 6'7" frame. Tinte is lean and lanky and athletic but just cannot seem to hold his own in an actual game, always getting pushed and shoved even by players half a foot shorter. Bacon Austria could probably kick Tinte's arse one on one. Trollano is now practicing with the team. I have no idea who Deans is.

Adamson ousts JRU; Letran gives La Salle the boot
    By Jasmine W. Payo

MANILA, Philippines—Austin Manyara sparked a fourth-quarter swing to lift Adamson past Jose Rizal University, 73-58, in the stepladder Sweet 16 round of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League Tuesday at the FilOil-Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Manyara, the Kenyan center who finished with a game-high 19 points and nine rebounds, took charge in a key breakaway that put the Falcons ahead for good, 60-49, after a slim 49-48 lead.

...Despite the absence of two injured stars, The Falcons thrived behind Janus Lozada, who had 14 points, 11 boards, five assists and three steals and Jerick Cañada, who chipped in 10 markers.
Adamson also took advantage of a crucial fourth-quarter stretch where the Falcons converted five free throws off a pair of technical fouls slapped on JRU coach Vergel Meneses and player Ralph Monserat.

    The scores:

    First Game

    ADAMSON 73—Manyara 16, Lozada 14, Cañada 10, Colina 8, Camson 7, Cabrera 6, Etrone 4, Brondial 4, Manuel 2, Alvarez 2, Olalia 0, Petilos 0, Rios 0, Monteclaro 0, Agustin 0.

    JRU 58—Apinan 17, Kabigting 13, Villarias 10, Monserat 4, Lopez 4, Matute 3, Almario 3, Paniamogan 2, Mendoza 2, Tiongco 0, Montemayor 0.
    Quarters: 13-18, 25-27, 48-40, 73-58
