Sige na, hindi na pinakita ng Ateneo ang A game nila. Ewan ko ba kung bakit ganun kahirap i admit ang pagkatalo.

Regarding the NU FEU game, im quite surprised with NU's new found tenacity on the hardcourt. They even led the Tams going in to the final minutes of the ballgame. If FEU continues to play that way, catching up i mean, then we are in for a long season.

On our match against UE, its payback time. A weakened UE with the loss of Acuna, Llagas, Espiritu and Bandayong will be too much for the Warriors as shown in their first two matches.

ang hirap basahin ng galaw ng NU ngayon. coach glen opted to cover Mbe to prevent him from duplicating his monster game against la salle. thus opening the lane for the other bulldog penetrations. nalimit nya nga si Mbe, career game naman kay khobuntin at ibang wingmen dahil butas ang gitna kakasunod ng big men defender kay Mbe. lumakas lang talaga NU marami pahihirapang team ito.

on to the next game, mukhang malaki ang hinina ng ue. pero kontra-pelo ng feu ito. naglalaway yata si paul lee pag nakikita sa rr career game lagi pag kaharap ang tamaraws.

I don't think there is a more lopsided matchup this season than FEU-UE, especially since Paul Lee is injured. Ramos and Garcia are going to have monster games against the warriors. 3-0 na to.

damn romeo torched UP for 21 points. most of those from long range bombs with hands in his face. he can create his own shot, hesitation move, "tinikling move" ba tawag don where he hop-step in one fluid motion before a shot, ankle-breaker meron din sya nyan. flawless din free throw shooting nito i watched all their games and only 1 missed free throw, 15 out of 16 attempts after four games perhaps.

so excited with this kid to think he is only in his rookie year. i won't be surprised if he will duplicate his 80+ point juniors game in the future.

though i love to see him in feu jersey one thing i cant understand is, basing my opinion on what i read here in gameface medyo lightly-regarded ito coming from high school hindi masyado napansin despite being an mvp from juniors rank. some says kulang sa hops or no consistent 3-point shot. but his previous game proves otherwise.

its a common knowledge that feu is not a favorite destination for blue chips even from their own junior program. with the emergence of NU in addition to traditional recruiting powers of uaap (admu, dlsu & up), im glad that he ended up in morayta. another player is likely to follow the footstep of long list of feu's great point guards

Tams crush Maroons Falcons nip Tigers

Terrence Romeo finally showed a glimpse of his impressive shooting as Far Eastern University roared to its fourth straight victory with a 94-70 romp over winless University of the Philippines in the 73rd UAAP men’s basketball tournament yesterday at the PhilSports Arena.

Romeo, who fired a staggering 83 points in one game as a junior last year, unloaded 10 straight of his game-high 21 points in a 12-2 run that put the Tamaraws back in control, 71-54, after the Maroons rallied within 59-52 in the third quarter.

“Their defense was concentrated on RR Garcia, so it’s good that Terrence stepped up,” said coach Glenn Capacio. “[Romeo] can do everything. We knew he’d explode any time.”

In the second game, Adamson bucked another sizzling shooting performance by University of Santo Tomas to eke out a 75-71 triumph and grab a share of second behind the unbeaten Tamaraws.

Lester Alvarez drilled 22 points, including nine of the Falcons’ last 13 points that kept the rallying Tigers at bay in the final two minutes.

“We’re really focusing on our maturity in the end game,” said Adamson coach Leo Austria. “Our composure was intact, unlike last season where we usually lose in the end game.”

The Falcons joined idle La Salle at 3-1, while the Tigers slipped to a three-way tie at 2-2 with defending champion Ateneo and National University.

UST again shot 16 three-pointers in a single game just three days after posting the same feat in their victory against the Maroons.

Jeric Teng buried seven triples for a career-high 23 points, while Jeric Fortuna, who nailed eight treys in his last outing, knocked in all of his 15 points from three-point range.

“Their shooters were marked men, but we couldn’t execute our defense,” said Austria. “But it’s a good thing we recovered, we played good defense in the last three possessions.”

The Falcons converted on UST’s two consecutive turnovers in the dwindling seconds to surge ahead, 71-65, after trailing at 62-63.

Teng and Clark Bautista kept the Tigers in the fight, 73-71, after back-to-back triples with 3.1 seconds left, before Jerick Cañada sealed Adamson’s victory with two free throws.

Adamson set the record for most number of triples at 16 in 2006, which UST duplicated twice in a span of three days.

The Maroons, with acting coach Boyet Fernandez at the helm, skidded to their fourth straight loss three days after mentor Aboy Castro filed a “leave of absence” from the team.

Adding to the Maroons’ woes was the absence of veteran forward Woody Co, who was sidelined for the rest of the game after hurting his right foot early in the second quarter.

“I didn’t step on anyone, my foot just landed awkwardly,” said Co, who averaged 14.4 points and 7.7 rebounds in the Maroons’ last three games.

The 5-foot-11 Romeo, the former Baby Tam who copped last year’s juniors MVP, also dished out four assists and had two steals for the Tamaraws.

“I was having a hard time at first because the players here are more matured, but I’m starting to adjust,” said Romeo.

The Maroons also have a former high school MVP in their roster, Joshua Saret, who shot a record 89 points in last year’s NCAA juniors.

But Saret suited up for only five minutes to finish with two points.

    The scores:

Re: FEU Tamaraws in UAAP Season 73 Basketball Tournament

FEU vs. La Salle. Ryan Cruz. Double OT. Marata. 5 game winning streak. Tenacity. End Game poise. The underrated rivalry.

You can throw in every word out there to describe that exhilirating game between FEU and La Salle.

    1. Ryan Cruz a revelation. Banging in 19 points on that game, i think, most of them on siyuatiuons where FEU needed points the most. A goddamn under the basket player that will surely take the mantle of Gerard Jones and even RB Mangahas. A great match up against Dela Cruz and Salva of Ateneo. Coach Glen should use his talent to the hilt.

    2. Marata. A monster on the rainbow area. Reminiscent of Ren Ritualo.

    3. Coach Glen questionable decision on pulling out Cruz and replacing him with the cold Sanga. Cawaling still with sub par performance.

    4. FEU could have been 1 win 4 loss if not for our end game poise. Something that we do not possess the last 3 years. We could've lost to Ateneo, NU, UE and most recently La Salle. Hell, those teams even had the lead in the 4th quarter. We cant play catch up all the time. The only team that we defeated convincingly is against UP. We still lack that dominating game against our opponents. Nevertheless, an ugly win is still a win.

The Tamaraws could have easily won the game in regulation if only Garcia, Romeo, Cervantes and Sanga didn't have the illusion of being heroes for the ballgame. So many one on one plays that went for naught. They are winning by sheer talent and coach capacio is one lucky guy to have such luxury, pulling out a good rookie in Cruz to put some sense on the Tams' game.

Cawaling was instrumental in the rally until he suffered that shoulder injury in the dying minutes, plus the intimidating defense of Ramos.

feu's offense was dictated by la salle pressure defense. very effective parin tong pumaren press kahit di masyado nakapag produce ng turn over dinelay nito pagbaba ng bola kaya di maka set ng play gahol na sa oras kaya nag kanya kanyang play na.

my observation is capacio has the tendency to play his opponents game kaya puro dikit ang panalo nito sana lang di umaasa sa swerte dahil hindi araw-araw ay pasko.
