[glow=red,4,300]I can't ever understand why my team has been cursed, poisoned and condemned. When they have been tryin' every fight to win the trophy. I'm tellin' you it isn't easy--believe me![/glow]

We love 'em, We fight with 'em. Unlucky boys of Red (Warriors).

UE, Letran return to Sweet 16 the longer way
    by Anton Roxas
    Friday, 12 November 2010

UNLIKE the previous year, wherein the University of the East Red Warriors and the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights both secured an automatic berth in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) Sweet 16, this year, both squads had to earn that right to be among the country’s best.

UE, who finished at 6th place in the UAAP this season with a 6-8 record, easily dismantled the University of Manila Hawks, 100-74 last Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Arellano Gym. It was the final day of the Luzon-Metro Manila zonal leg in the 2010 PCCL.

We had a head start in this game. At one time we had a glorious 3rd place finish in the World Championship and was the undisputed power in Asia. But the world has learned how to play it. They may not be as good as us,but they have enough smarts to make use of their height. That is enough to beat us.

    By Rommel C. Manlosa

THE University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors picked the right time to beat University of the Visayas Green Lancers, 71-64, booting out the nine-time Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. champions from in the Sweet 16 of the 2010 Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) at the Cebu Coliseum yesterday.

In the main game, reigning Cesafi champions, University of Cebu Webmasters bucked a slow start to rout the University of Iloilo Wildcats, 96-66, to move to the quarterfinal round.

However, only one Cebu team will advance to the semifinal round as the Warriors and the Webmasters will meet each other for the first seat to the Final Four in the main game today at 4 p.m.

Today’s opener is between the UAAP runner-up Far Eastern University Tamaraws and the NCAA third placer Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers at 2 p.m.

It was a roller coaster ride for the Warriors who lost a slim lead in the first quarter, trailed in the next two quarters before pulling some aces in the final canto to eliminate the Green Lancers.

Sam Jordan Hermosa scored 10 of his 25 points in the final quarter to lead USC to the quarterfinal round.

Joven Cid Cortes also added 18 and Michael Cantonao finished with 13 for the Warriors, while Ralf Olivares scored 15 points and John Abad added 12 for the Green Lancers.

In the second game, UC broke used a 14-0 run in the third quarter to put up 38-points lead, 86-48, for an easy sailing to the quarterfinal round.

Val Cueva scored the game high 15 points from the 3-point land, while Junemar Fajardo was again unstoppable as he scored 14 points. Fajardo also had 16 rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots.

Gerald Ampoon scored 15 points, Kevin Julianne added 14 and Krist Edward Pao had 12 for UC. Bernard Tibor led the Wildcats with 15.
