Official 2008 Lineup of University of Manila Hawks

For the first five or six seasons of NAASCU the UM Hawks RULED! They strung up a 76-game win streak broken only a couple years back by the St Clare Saints on a last-second shot from midcourt.

Former San Sebastian and UE coach Francis Rodriguez is now the coach of the Hawks.

Former Hawks include PBA legend Nelson Asaytono, PBL veteran Eugene Tan and former MBA hotshot Biboy Simon. Alaska power forward Reynel Hugnatan is also from UM.

So who are on the roster of UM for this year?

Ato Tolentino must really be close to the UM owners because he was resplendent in barong on the UM bench although it was new head coach Francis Rodriguez calling the shots. I wasn't able to get the whole story but he was also among those who took part in the ceremonial center court toss for the photographers.

Napiza I think is the UM main man this season.

They used to have Pol Santiago who is now playing for the Lyceum Pirates. He is definitely a hidden talent, wala lang talagang exposure. Remember him scoring like 18 points in the CCL last season against UV. May patutunguhan sana yan kasi matapang kahit sikat ang bantay hindi inuurungan. Palaban talaga.

Castillo, former MLQU Stallions player and still the coach of the Stallions. is bringing some of its Stallions players to UM, to boost its campaign in the coming NAASCU season.

wrong move? signing a coach from a rival school. heard that the tandem of former Hawks Nixon Distrito and PBA player Rhoel Hugnatan is interested to take over the coaching job left by Francis Rodriguez but Atty. Ernesto Delos Santos rejected the two former Hawks.

Eugene Tan, who lead the UM Hawkletts to 5th titles in junior division along with Richard Litonjua and Ryan Regalado also interested in the job.

so why Castillo?
