    Olympians in the PBL

Finally, the dream of seeing an STI College Olympian playing in the PBL is now a reality. Like the recent surge of STI in the local basketball scene, we knew one day this will come but we never envisioned it to be this soon. My only hope is that I will be able to write more in this thread in the next few seasons of the PBL. For the meantime this thread will focus on Olympians who have moved on to the PBL or other amateur leagues.

    Ramon Mabayo 6'2
    Power Forward/Small Forward
Probably the best low post defender of the team. He normally takes on the opponent's top forward and is poised to shut him down. In the NAASCU he took on 2006 MVP Chito Jaime. From the time he donned an Olympian jersey his hard work and determination made him improve every year he has been with STI. He normally has a nose for the ball, grabs tons of offensive rebounds which is his source for points. He is now playing his first conference with San Mig Coffee.

Mabayo has been doing well for San Mig Coffee and when needed he can produce on offense and he has been used mostly by coach Koy Banal.

    Re: Olympians in the PBL

Actually ang maganda kay Ramon Mabayo is that walang pressure sa kanya mag score because he is mostly used for defensive purposes. But the guy is good for 6 pts to 8 points if he gets good minutes.

Alam mo naman Coaches, they reward players who fight for position, gets offensive rebounds and at the same time give you some intangibles.
Same can be said with Mark Balneg.

    Mark Balneg, 6'1
    Off Guard/Small Forward
Is a sound defender and can guard the opposing team's shooters and penetrators.
Has a good medium range and three point shot. Is a streak shooter and can hit it from
    any point of the court.

Nasa PBL lineup parin po ba ng San Mig Coffee si idol Balneg? Sana mas marami pang makapag larong Olympians sa PBL this coming season, and sa PBA in the future!

It will depend on the final lineup that the teams will submit before the start of the conference.
