Cedar Loses Match, But Joins Top 4 Teams

Cedar College of Computer Technology lost its match against University of St. La Salle,76-80, but instead joined the top four teams advancing to the crossover semifinals yesterday afternoon at the West Negros College gym in the 27th NOPSSCEA men's basketball tournament. University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Rams scored a lopsided win against ABE International Business College, 156-51, and tied with Cedar at (2-3) win-loss card but Cedar prevailed in the win-over-the other rule, losing to the same team, 77-73 last Wednesday at NOMPAC gym.
Ricahrd Ong topscored again for Cedar with 20 points, Jessie Boy Moreño 17, Audie Locsin 13 and Arnold Locsin 9. Celestial led USLS Stingers attack with 24 points. USLS Stingers and CSA-B Eagles ended with 3-2 win-loss card, but the Stingers prevailed applying the same rule when they beat the Eagles in their own encounter, 70-65 Thursday.
The crossover semifinal's will start this afternoon, with 8-time NOPSSCEA champion West Negros College Mustangs facing USLS Stingers, while CSA-B against Cedar College at the WNC gym.
The winners in each group will advance to the championship, while the losers will face each other for third place on Saturday next week, October 6, 2007.
Elementary Caging Championship Today
The elementary basketball championship will start today, with University of St. La Salle and St. John Institute to dispute the crown. Bacolod Tay Tung High School Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod will vie for third place finish.
Secondary Crossover Quarterfinals Starts
The secondary basketball tournament crossover quarterfinals will start today at NOMPAC gym. Bracket A No. team, USLS will meet No. 2 in bracket D, St. John's Institute starting at 9 a.m. MCA (1B) will traded basket with LCC-M (2C); WNC (1C) vs. Tangub Christin Academy (2B), while Silay Institute (1B) vs. La Consolacion School-Gardenville at 3:30 p.m.
