For my part, I really love the Beatles' cover versions from the early '60s like "Some Other Guy"* (from the Live at the BBC double album - I can't remember who the original artist was), the Isley Brothers' "Twist and Shout", Chuck Berry's "Roll Over Beethoven" and "Rock and Roll Music" and Smokey Robinson and the Miracles' "You Really Got A Hold On Me." I also love 311's fun remake of Sublime's "What I Got" and their pretty faithful cover of The Clash's "White Man in Hammersmith Palais" (performed live on the 311 Day DVD).

    How about you?
Jef Buckley -- Elton John's "We All Fall In Love Sometimes" (live bootleg) and Nina Simone's "Lilac Wine" (pero di yata si Nina Simone ang original...)
    311 -- The Cure's "Love Song"
Radiohead -- Carly Simon's "Nobody Does It Better" (live bootleg)
Elliott Smith -- The Beatles' "Because" (from the American Beauty OST)
Nirvana -- David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World"
Reel Big Fish -- A-Ha's "Take On Me"

Madami pang nasa playlist ko. I have a soft spot for covers of British songs, kung di ninyo napansin. I like all of them equally, pero nangingibabaw si Elliott Smith at Jeff Buckley. These are the songs that readily came into my head when I read 5FootCarrot's post.

Speaking of cover albums, one that really stands out is If I Were A Carpenter. Kasama dun 'yung sa Grant Lee Buffalo, and Matthew Sweet ("Let Me Be The One"), and the Cranberries ("Close To You"). Medyo dark naman ang "Rainy Days and Mondays" ng Cracker, and Sonic Youth's "Superstar", which is actually a cover of a cover.

Agree. Although I thought we should appreciate our favorites, I must say that Britney definitely does not hold a candle to Joan Jett.

hehehe medyo nag mainstream nga ang maroon 5, pero maganda ang first single nila. I'm currently enjoying dasboard confessional's "stolen" (got 3 versions, ganda ng beat) then snow patrol's signal fire, ganda din ng video.
