I assume Alas will still be coaching the Patriots. Clearly, this can affect Letran's off season activities like recruitment and player development.

Major Collapse against MIT! Looks like the Knights relaxed in the remaining minutes.....I also thought that it was a comfortable lead. Sayang.
Double Victory Red Lions & Cubs !!!

................Overall Champs Naman.

Collapse, indeed. It looked like the Knights were playing not to lose rather than playing to win. That, plus those three miracle treys by Cornejo and Acosta cost Letran this ballgame. Nakakaasar. Sayang.

I arrived home just in time for the 4th Qtr, Seems to be a sure win with the big lead. K. Alas gave his final 5th foul when he probably thought Letran had the win....Plus the crucial misses in the free throw of Dysam. If he converted these free throws, Panalo sana kahit a small lead! Coach Alas was already Pleading to his players in the remaining seconds "For God Sake".

dati-rati kahit malaki ang lead ng kalaban, kayang habulin ng Letran...ngayon, malaki na ang lamang ng knights, nahahabol pa ???

Six years ago i toyed with the idea of finding someone who can replace Louie Alas as coach of Letran. Hukayin naten muli ang thread na itowhich has been laying doormant for the past 2 yrs. But now that coach Louie has finally tendered his irrevocable resignation following last nights debacle in the NC finals, this is the opportune time to brainstorm again who would be the best repalcement for our longtime beloved coach.

I dreaded the day would come when Alas would pack his bags and leave, but now that it's here, there's no other recourse but to find someone to fill that void.

No doubt Alas has been a great coach and has done wonders for the Letran MBT. But the circumstances surrounding his abrupt resignation leaves something for the letran community to ponder upon. Did he resign amicably or were there internal problems brewing during the time leading to the finals. Naglalabasan kasi ang sarisaring mga ispekulasyon on why the Knights loss horribly in Game 3

The RL has now overtaken the Knights as the winningest team in the league, we now go forward and lick our wounds and move on to plot
our next step minus coach ALAS. What now.... and most importantly WHO?

^Well, Coach Louie recommended his lieutenants: Tino Pinat, Kris Reyes, Ronjay Enrile and Eugene Tan. So they're in the list. There are Letran alumni who may be available: Alfrancis Chua (ex-Sta. Lucia and Tanduay coach), Junjie Ablan (ex-Arellano coach), Gilbert Castillo (current Arellano asst. coach), Rudy Hines (ex-Letran coach), Nemie Villegas (ex-Letran and PBA coach). Also, there are a number of non-Letran alumni who may be prove to be interesting: Joel Banal, Boyet Fernandez, Elmer Cabahug, Lito Vergara, Dong Vergeire... Joe Lipa (!). I don't know which of these are really available, or (more to the point) which ones we can afford.

This last point is specially important, since we do not have a financier with an open wallet who will take care of a pro-level coach's salary. So the question really is, who is the best among the guys we can afford to hire?

Other Letranite possibilities: Monch Gavierres (current Squires coach), Jing Ruiz (ex-Squires coach, current assistant coach of Adamson), Tonichi Pujante (UPHSD Altalettes coach, ex-LSGH coach), Ariel Vanguardia (ex-JRU coach, current coach in ABL).
