Saan na po naglalaro si Nino Songco? Bilib ako sa lakas at gulang nito, mismatch halos lahat ng bantay, demands double teams talaga.

Nino Songco used up all of his playing eligibility for EAC under the rules of the NCRAA and UCAA.* For school year 2005-2006, he transferred to Saint Clare College-Caloocan of the NAASCU wherein the eligibility rules simply state that a player may suit up until he does not turn 25.

Ferdinand Melocoton mysteriously disappeared from the EAC roster during the recent HAIL.* *???

Anthony Severino is correct. Songco has played his 5 years in the NCRAA, for the UCAA he is already over age last year. it was also his last year for st. claire. he is now working in a financing firm in manila. Niρo is still practicing with the EAC Generals and will suit up in the team as reinforcement in coming PICAA along with ex EAC varsity Ace Castillo, Ryan Tejada, Carlo De Guzman and Bobet Samius Uy.

Bong has 1 year remaining in the UCAA. however, he is no longer practicing in the team. he will be concentrating in finishing his Com. Sci. degree till Oct. 2006. he is planning to try-out for Magnolia after this conference. Bong can be the next coming of Allan caidic.

Matanong lang po, kay Songco ba yung naka-retire na jersey dun sa second floor ng sports center?

Hayup ang kamay nun ni Melocoton, pati wala siyang talon sa mga spot shots niya, pulso lang ang gamit.

    thanks for your query...

the jersey you saw was indeed belonged to NINO SONGCO. if you check the mezzanine area, we also have the framed jersey of songco with notation regarding his contributions in the EAC Generals.

I've seen Bong Molocoton shoot the lights out. But can he do the one thing that really wins games: play defense? he seems to give up as many points as he scores...

thats a good question. for the longest time he played for the EAC Generals, it took a little time for him to hussle down and up the court for defense. when we played the championship match versus dlsu dasma last year in the UCAA. one of our assistant coaches told him about the game plan of dlsu dasma, ATTACK MELOCOTON, because they knew Bong is not a strong defender.bong was really challenged and made up for this impression on him. in the game, he foiled every 3 point attempt of his match up. he ran like he never ran before.

he realized that his points will not win championships, its his defense.....

Did the two EAC teams, Manila and Cavite, ever faced each other in a competition? If yes, which team won?

EAC GETS BACK AT UP IN PICAA 2ND ROUND PLAY

Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) avenged its first round loss to the University of the Philippines (UP), 89-81, in the second round of the eliminations of the Philippine Integrated Chinese Athletics Association (PICAA) at the EAC Sports Complex in Ermita, Manila.

The Fighting Maroons, playing without veterans Marvin Cruz and Nestor David as well as prized recruit Woodward Co, hounded the Generals throughout the game.* Its rookie-laden line-up failed, however, to measure up against a team without injured starter Gester Ebuen, but reinforced by homecourt hero Nino Songco.* Ronjay Buenafe, who did not suit up for EAC during the first round game against UP, teamed up with Songco, the tandem scoring 10 and 9 points respectively as the Generals took the first quarter, 28-22.

The second quarter featured the Generals’s high-leaping newcomer, Nico Hubalde, youngest son of PBA legend Freddie Hubalde.* The young Hubalde scattered 8 points in the second quarter in a display of bold slashing skills, his last basket a soft put back of his own miss after he elevated over towering defenders as the half expired with EAC on top 49-39.

After receiving a generous dose of Coach Joe Lipa’s patented motivational technique, the Fighting Maroons started the second half with a more balanced attack.* Migs De Asis made all 3 free throws after being fouled attempting a 3-point shot and a trey to complement Ira Buyco who scored his own 6 points for the quarter while operating in the shaded lane.* Veejay Serios, who was the most consistent of the Fighting Maroons, scored a crucial basket for UP to threaten, 63-59, 3:45 left in the quarter.* The Generals, however, came back with a 9-6 spurt highlighted by a Buenafe converted steal and his fifth rainbow shot of the game to cap off a 14-point output for the quarter.

EAC seemed to be cruising to victory for most in the pay-off period, especially when Serios fouled out at the 4:18 mark.* UP, nonetheless, went on a 0-7 tear in the last 2 minutes to challenge anew, 86-81, as Martin Reyes drained a shot from beyond the arc and converted a Buyco steal.* Coach Nomar Isla calmly settled his wards and they scored the last 3 points of the game while UP went scoreless and Buyco fouled out in the final minute of the match.

    EAC – 89:* Buenafe – 28, Songco – 18, Valderama – 13, Musni – 8, Hubalde – 8, Baybay – 8, De Guzmzn – 4, Castillo – 2, Manansala – 0, Tejada – 0,* Evangelista – 0

    UP – 81:* Serios – 16, Buyco – 15, Sison – 10, Reyes – 10, Sorongon – 10, De Asis – 9, Braganza – 6, Epres – 3, Maniego – 2, Cacha – 0
