The Philippines is a country known for world-class sports figures like boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, kegler Paeng Nepomuceno, runner Lydia De Vega, the magician Efren “Bata” Reyes, and Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire. These athletes are products of hard work and training that they developed when they were still young. Such is the case of this upcoming star from Hope Christian High School.

Born Antonio Miguel Yeo Yang on December 26, 1998 to Mr. Anthony Yang and Ms. Cheri Yang, this Manila-born 6-foot-1 forward of Hope Christian High School

“My dad Anthony Yang inspired me to play basketball”, quipped the chinito cager who scored his career high of 28 points in the Tiong Lian basketball tournament. In their game against the Lyceum of the Philippines Junior Pirates in the recent MMBL tournament, he scored a team best 19 points as they routed their opponent, 95-65.

In the NBA, he looks up to Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard and five time NBA Finals champion Kobe Bean Bryant, while in the PBA, he likes Gabe Norwood of Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. In the collegiate ranks, he likes Clint Dolinguez, an Alumnus of HSCHS, who now plays for Ateneo Blue Eagles. Anton acknowledges the fact that the basketball program of HCHS is still the best, and the team is still in the process of rebuilding.

Aside from basketball, he also likes swimming. He used to compete before as a tanker for his school. “I want to be a professional basketball player someday. I also want to be a businessman and a motivational speaker”, added Anton Yang who is now a fourth year student of Hope Christian High School.
