MANILA – The quarterfinal pairings of the Fourth National Collegiate Basketball League (NCBL) are officially all set after the completion of the classification phase Friday (August 21) at the Technological Institute of the Philippines Gym. PARANAQUE CITY – Technological Institute of the Philippines picked up a very important 74-66 road win over Olivarez College Tuesday (August 11) at the resumption of the National Collegiate Basketball League at the Dr. Pablo R. Olivarez Gym. The Engineers’ victory enabled them to temporarily break out of a tie with the defeated Sea Lions for Second Place in the standings and more importantly gain ground on one of two outright semifinal berths. PARANAQUE CITY – Pruvil Bermudes converted on a breakaway layup with four seconds left to rescue the Olivarez College Sea Lions from the upset-conscious Philippine Christian University Dolphins, 67-65, in continuing action from the National Collegiate Basketball League (NCBL) at the Dr. Pablo R. Olivarez Gym Friday (August 7). The Sea Lions improved to 4-2 and stayed in the hunt for one of two automatic semifinal seats in the six-team league.
