Am a bit surprised no posts over here about the incident, but Ali Peek is one tough hombre. He's now in stable condition and was actually able to make a call over his cellphone right after he got shot. The first person he calls? His Coach!

MVP has offered a 500k reward for information leading to arrest. More about it here (http://www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/police-release-sketch-of-peek-shooting-suspect-mvp-offers-p500k-reward).

PBA player Ali Peek “in stable condition” after being shot at

MANILA, Philippines: Ali Peek who plays for Talk N Text in the PBA was said to be in “stable condition” after being shot at by a lone gunman on Monday evening.

Senior Superintendent Armando Bolalin, Mandaluyong police chief, said Peek was rushed to the Medical City hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound in the nape.

Bolalin said the incident happened around 7.15 p.m. at the parking lot of RFM Gym on Pioneer St., Mandaluyong City.

It was learned that the 36-year-old Filipino-American had just come from a plyometrics workout at RFM gym when the assailant fired at him.

Former PBA chairman Ricky Vargas, who is at the Makati Medical Center looking after the needs of the Talk N Text player said “he’s conscious and in stable condition now.”

According to reports in the Filipino media, doctors are yet contemplating about the time and nature of surgery to take out the bullet lodged in his neck.

A TnT team source said: “Ali didn’t even fall after he was shot. He was able to call us (coaches) through his cell phone. Good thing, his personal trainer was there and saw him.”

“What happened was really, really shocking since Ali is a very nice guy,” said the source.

“He’ll be operated (to remove the bullet). Good thing it missed a major artery,” he added.

Bolalin explained that the assailant, armed with a still unknown firearm, shot the basketball player from behind while the latter was “cleaning up his stuff inside the car.”

After shooting Peek, the gunman fled on foot.

“While holding his bleeding nape, he (Peek) asked two people he saw to bring him to the hospital,” Bolalin said.

The police still have no clues about the possible motive in the shooting as the investigation is still ongoing.

“We have yet to talk to Peek and ask him who may have done this to him,” Bolalin said
