We will be bringing in guests from the NCAA to help us look over the results and standings in Round 1 of Season 86 and the getting-going Round 2 that starts today.

Using just my alcohol-addled memory here is my recollection of the Round 1 standings:

San Beda 8 - 0
San Sebastian 7 - 1
Jose Rizal 6 - 2
Mapua 5 - 3
Arellano 3 - 5
St Benilde 2 - 6
Emilio Aguinaldo 2 - 6
Letran 2 - 6
Perpetual Help 0 - 8

Please correct me if I misplaced a win or loss somewhere.

How did the ineligibility of Nuilan and Gomez affect Perpetual this season?

Why did John Wilson not play his final year of eligibility this season?

How has the expansion to nine teams affected the league? What became of Angeles University? Is there more expansion planned in the future?

What has become of PCU? Will they ever return to the NCAA or is there a permanent ban on the school?

Is Mapua's Round 1 performance surprising or expected?

What is it with all of this patches-on-uniforms issue?

What's with the Calvin Abueva spitting incident?

Are there teams that were expected to do better this season and yet have not performed up to par, aside from Perpetual?

Can San Sebastian retain their title, or will San Beda take it back?

How come the NCAA can't seem to fill an already relatively small venue like Arena?

Will San Beda get a regular season sweep?

What is your fearless Final 4 forecast?

Is Calvin Abueva the reincarnation of PCU's Gabby Espinas?

SBC could have done such in season 83. I felt that was the time SBC had the opportunity to do so even with a newly installed head coach in Frankie Lim. The line-up itself that year is unbeatable on paper: Hermida, Escobal, Menor, Aljamal, Ekwe, Gamalinda, Tecson, Marcelo, Lanete, Tirona and Maggay. With the suspension of PCU, only Letran and JRU are the "upcoming threats". But even then, Letran lacks the talent to match SBC. JRU at that point was too young and has very short rotation.

This year, we would have to look at SSCR and MIT. We all know what SSCR is capable of doing so. MIT has been doing good since offseason. They dont have superstars per se but they have a reliable system almost similar to that of Koy Banal.

To answer the question, my opinion is still a "no".

1. SBC/SSCR. It will go either waySBC
3. JRU.
4. MIT/AU. MIT has better talent but AU has more battle tested coach. Could go either way.

Is Calvin Abueva the reincarnation of PCU's Gabby Espinas?

Probably not. Might be of the same age. ;D

Nice guest list. Can you also get coach Chito? It's nice to get his incites since his team is currently the pleasant surprise for the league

Save this later for Coach Frankie: "Coach, how will you address the consistent lethargic start in the first half by the Red Lions going in to the 2nd Round?"

Coach Frankie,

1. Until when do you intend to coach the Red Lions?
2. What's your basis in deciding whether or not a player deserves a slot in the team?
3. What really happened to Kelvin Emeka Udo?
4. Why did you allow Mike Silungan to leave?
5. Do you have any message for Ariel Vanguadia? ;D

For Coach Frankie:

We know that our graduating Red Cubs are being heavily recruited as we speak, what are your plans for them:
1. Amer
2. Gotladera
3. Javier

Bring back the crown, Coach.

Your look alike,
Lekiboy. :)

Is the NCAA shaping up to be an early PBA years league with only two dominant teams (a la Crispa-Toyota) with the rest of the teams as also rans?

Why was Letran not able to recruit better players these past two years? Did they put up a serious effort to retain outstanding Squires like Tampus, Sumang, Khobuntin and even Noble?

Coach Frankie,

Do you have any adjustments in offense/defense coming in to the 2nd round?

How did you and your coaching staff prepared the Red Lions against San Sebastian during their 1st Round encounter?

Last na Coach, your thoughts on Igee King? ;-)

Dear Gamefacers, the phone system in the radio station is unfortunately busted. In this light, it is unfortunate that Coach Frankie Lim and Butch Maniego will not be able to join us tonite.

Noy Africa of San Beda Boosters will join us in the discussions to discuss the Red Lions' campaign and the NCAA as a whole. Continue posting your questions here or you may text us at 09088647948.
