we can win against La Salle. manpower pa lang, lamang na tayo. we just need to play team basketball [offense/defense]. delikado tayo kapag mawala pa ito [win] sa atin.

i think we shouldnt be complacent...contender sila they look legit to me plus they have prized rookies like vosotros, tampus and veteran sweet shooting atkins...i hope i jinxed him... ;D at medyo malakas ang kanilang interior defense with the presence of their bigs specially former staglet yutien and their full court press but i think our veteran guards can handle that but the game wont definitely be a walk in the park for our warriors..

wag tayo papakampante dahil marami tayong beterano wag natin maliitin ang championship experience ng mga players ng la salle... halos lahat ng mga player ng las salle ay may championship experience..guys like vosotros, marata, villanueva, tolentino, andrada and webb at wag din natin mamaliitin ang front court nila compose of Papot paredes dahil youth team itong batang to at ang defender nila sa ilalim na si yutien andrada we all know this guy can swat the shots... lamang din sila sa back court because most of their guards can score on dribble penetration hindi kagaya ng mga guards natin live and die halos sa three points. for me atkins < martinez because atkins can score on a dribble penetration samantalang ang atin si martinez three point specialist lang talaga...

any updates on the game??

prediction: la salle by 15+ or UE by 5

Eagles, Archers topple UAAP rivals, get ready for showdown
07/18/2010 | 08:05 PM

Fierce rivals La Salle and Ateneo primed themselves up for a highly-anticipated explosive showdown next week after hurdling past their respective rivals Sunday in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

The Blue Eagles rode on a breakout game by Justin Chua to outlast a determined University of Santo Tomas Tigers, 68-56, to pick up their second straight win in this eight-team cast.

The Green Archers, on the other hand, played true to form after absorbing a sound beating at the hands of the National University Bulldogs, last time around.

This time, coach Dindo Pumaren and his troop brought their A-game against the University of the East Warriors and won with ease, 82-63, in the other game.

It was also the second win in three matches for the Archers, who forged a three-way tie with their fierce nemesis and the vastly-improved Falcons in second to fourth places. The Archers and the Eagles notched an important win headed to their expected blockbuster showdown – their first meeting in the tournament – this season.

For Pumaren, his first meeting against his former team – the Warriors – was nothing personal. But his wards buckled down to serious business in the second half when they turned a close match into an ugly rout.

“We played bad (against NU), but there’s no excuse for that," said Pumaren, referring to his team’s previous setback. “They played good defense and I’m just glad the boys stepped up."

Pumaren got the win against the team he coached for four seasons, including a finals entry against La Salle in 2007. But the win wasn’t something special for the former PBA player known as “The Bullet."

“It’s just another game," he added.

The Archers zoomed to a 51-36 lead on a 9-0 run, which was started by a Maui Villanueva three-point play.

The Red Warriors cut the deficit to 10 points, 58-48, but the Archers finished the third period with eight consecutive points.

Earlier, Chua had a coming-out-party as the Eagles more than made up for a hurting Eric Salamat in clobbering the Tigers.

Salamat, who was slowed down by a knee injury, was contented orchestrating the plays for his squad.

But Ateneo’s frontline proved to be too much against their smaller UST counterparts led by Chua, who terrorized their rivals for 17 points.

The lefty, former high school standout from Chiang Kai Shek, showed his versatility in offense. He knocked in two consecutive jumpers to extend the lead of Ateneo by six and later drained another outside shot that made it a 59-52 lead with 3:51 remaining.

Chua capped his long-game brilliance with a nifty lay up for a 61-52 Eagles’ advantage.

Ateneo coach Norman Black has nothing but praises for his slotman.

"Justin (Chua) has a great attitude. He's been working hard in practice and he's not complaining when he's not playing. I gave him a chance in this game and it worked out well for us," said Black, whose team is seeking a rare grandslam in the tournament. - RCJ, GMANews.TV

CHONGSON RESIGN!

Yup it was indeed the Interior Defense of the archers that killed us, i think sana mas binabad na lang ni Kotz si Razon!etong si Razon kasi eh scrappy kind of player na kailangan ng isang perimeter team, may nose for the ball ika nga nila...magaling pumulot ng bola at mag footback!Raffy Reyes needs to realize his potential...sayang lang kung puro pasa lang kay martinez and lee gagawin nya he have above average dribble penetration skills and outside touch.

parang Psych defense ang ginagawa nila soft press and occasional hard press ang ginawa ng lasalle parang tinakot lang ng unti si kotz natin para mag switch sa dominant guard rotation then they pound us in the paint during our offensive plays kung mapapansin nyo we didnt have an 8sec violation pero almost 7 sec ang nagagamit sa pagbaba ng bola and 4-5 sec ang tinatagal ng bola near the haft court line, almost 12 sec ang nakain sa oras hindi pa nag rorotate ang bola so we have a little time left to execute our offense.

Sir Wangbu paul lee was not supposed to play last sunday pero nun nakita niya un slides sa presentation during pregame analysis ng mga commentators na "Lee-tle impact" or something to that effect he suddenly changed his mind to play in the game...talagang palaban lang talaga ung bata natin sir.

sa mga hindi nakakaalam ng work ethic ni PJ etong batang to wayback 2006 nun una kong makita sa ue very raw then but you can see alot of potential, he would do shoot arounds at 7pm "pag walang PE class sa gym 5" or 8pm ALONE walang kasamang ball boy...may puso lang talaga siya sa laro this guy.

correct! dapat focus muna attention natin sa team. siguro, after ng 1st round, then we air our sentiments [the team needs our support, not division]. for the mean time, let's PM our violent reactions ;D
