That foul call in the last 2.9 seconds was controversial to say the least and handed the Stags their fourth major title after winning the NCAA, the National Students, and the PBL.

Just to be clear, I am from Ateneo, so I am neither a San Sebastian nor FEU fan.

Joe however makes a good point. It was essentially the referee (Referee Bobby -something) who let San Sebastian finish FEU off for this championship. With time down to under five seconds and the ball still very much loose and everyone scrambling and grabbing at the ball and each other, to zero in on one player - FEU's Chris Exciminiano - for a foul was totally uncalled for. This was a clear case of "Let-Go" basketball. The score was tied at 78-all, overtime was looming, and with one whistle a game official directly and unequivocally affected the outcome of the game in favor of one side.

that was the stupidest call for the year so far.... the ref robbed FEU of the win...

Or robbed everyone of an ending that the players would determine on the court - likely in overtime.

Naaahhhh... Here we go again...
Its very obvious that after Pamboy dive for the ball, an FEU player followed on, thus committing a foul...
Dapat nde na nya dinaganan si Pamboy para natawagan ng travelling... Daganan ba naman na hawak ni Pamboy ang bola? Eh di foul talaga 'yun... Simple basketball man!

PEACE OUT!

that was RR Garcia sitting on pamboy. The foul was called on Execimiano( I hope I got it right).

Videos clearly showed Exciminiano was nowhere near the play when he was whistled for the foul. It was Garcia who was all over Pamboy Raymundo. Why was the foul called on Exciminiano?

The referee gestured that the FEU guard held on to Raymundo in the chase for the ball. Ang problema, how could it be a holding foul kung naka-dive pa si Raymundo for the ball, SLIDING into the backcourt, BEFORE Garcia landed on him? Also, Garcia landed on Raymundo because precisely Raymundo dove and, by accident perhaps, undercut Garcia who was also after the ball.

Having said that, Raymundo could've been called for looseball foul, or a traveling (because he had the ball as he slid), or it could've really been a looseball foul on Garcia for landing on Raymundo. But a good referee won't call any of those. A good referee would've let the players play and decide the game for themselves.

Excaminiano was whistled for a foul because he held on to pandoy'ss jersey and hand when the latter was to chase for the looseball against rr garcia. though a late call.
But it was a great game for both teams. sulit manood kahit libre.

There was indeed a foul, the problem is, it's was called late. Anyway, kudos to SSC-R, SBC and UPHR for dominating all sides of the Fil Oil Tournament.

Maybe the referee has an appointment that night, and sending the game to overtime will get him late. ;D
