for the Basketball season, teams that have made drastic changes in the off season are the following

Our Lady of Fatima, CEU, Informatics

University of Manila is intact, SSC lost a few guns are still in the running
STI will be coming back with 11 veterans in their team

The season will prove to a "matira ang matibay" season

I think CEU managed to recruit a 6'3" Fil-am blue chipper fresh out of high school in the US east coast (and previously discussed somewhere else in this forum). Why he settled and went to CEU is still beyond me. ???

may schedule na po ba ng mga games para sa upcoming season ng NAASCU? anong school maglalaro sa opening day at saka san ang venue?

Centro Escolar and Coach Mon are believed to have Marc Palacios Brooklyn,NY and Justin Antes D3 starting point guard from Hunter College in NYC

..along with the two fil am recruits, Ryan Gallardo from Portland, Oregon gives them a high paced game, think shawn marion? Got to watch CEU beat Baste-Cavite in the Father Martin's without Marc or Justin, with the help of other key recruits (former letran,UST) Team B players

The upcoming NAASCU season will be interesting and of course filled with high energy basketball, Informatics and OLF have reloaded a bunch of new players...

Also look for STI as they blew out a full rostered Letran team in the Father Martin's, a very well oiled team

UM draws first blood vs STI

THERE’S no stopping five- time champion University of Manila.

Drawing strength from their rookie-laden line-up, UM brought down arch-rival STI Colleges, 78-73, in Game 1 of their scheduled best-of-three title showdown in the 10th NAASCU men’s basketball tournament at the Makati Coliseum,

Rhandelle Colina, one of two prized finds from Davao City, provided the heroics for the Hawks when he scored four straight pressure-packed free throws in the closing seconds to clinch the win.

The 5-10 Colina made the free throws after Hessed Gabo put the Olympians to within 73-74 with a difficult bank shot with six seconds left.

Another rookie, Eugene Torres, canned his own free throws for a 74-71 lead for UM with one minute left.
Game 2 is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. on Friday also at the Makati Coliseum.

UM’s title triumph also came at a righ time, with the university celebrating its 97th anniversary.

The triumph was also dedicated to the memory of UM’s three founding members -- Apolinario, Mariano and Helen de los Santos and to Dr. Virgilio and Cordella delos Santos.

THAT would be tough because the NAASCU champion University of Manila has to finish in the top four of the 12-team combined Metro Manila and Luzon elimination tournament in order to break into the Sweet 16.

The Hawks will compete with the NCAA's Letran College and Arellano University, the UAAP's University of the East and National University, ISAA champion Lyceum of the Philippines University, UCAA champion Colegio Santo Monica, UCLAA champion Saint Francis of Assisi College as well as the champions of the NCAA-South and MMIC plus the qualifiers from the North Luzon and South Luzon regionals.

My tribute to the NAASCU . . . a real college league for real college students, not a pro league wannabe. Looking forward to NAASCU XI next school year. (http://servssports.wordpress.com/2010/10/20/the-last-pinoy-amateurs/)
