The STI College Olympians is currently entered in the Father Martin's Cup as part of their preparations for the 10th Season of the NAASCU.
Holdovers from last year's team are
1. Jerald Bautista
2. Maclean Sabellina
3. Norman Ihalas
4. Bryan Daguplo
5. Raffy Waminal
6. Renz Cruz
7. Cedric Ablaza
8. Paulo Villadoz
9. Lester Bocablo
10. JC Po
11. Mark Orias
The remaining 6 slots are still being contested:
Notable Recruits are
1. Ivan Moreno - from the Juniors team
2. A former San Sebastian Stag (Former Team mate of Eric Salamat)
3. A guard from UST
4. A forward from Arellano
5. A Fil-am Guard
6. A forward from out of the Philippines
I think these are the missing pieces to help STI have a fruitful campaign this season.
I just hope the team gels well this summer in time for the NAASCU Wars

Just got back from the planning session of the NAASCU
Judging from what I heard from other team managers here are the teams to beat
Our Lady of Fatima - good recruitment year, they have a 6'5 Indonesian (best young player in Indonesia) recruited
by Coach Rensy Bajar while he was playing there. They also got other recruits from UAAP and NCAA teams, from college and from High school - their line up will be loaded this season.
University of Manila - with the best point guard in the league coming back, UM has a solid line up and the best bet to make it to the finals, coming back is Onofre Napiza who will play his last year after sitting out the 9th season.
Centro Escolar University - this is Coach Mon Jose's first year to recruit and he is banking on a Filam and other recruitis still unnamed..with his vast knowledge of the game and basketball resume he will definitely land the players
Informatics - Imagine they beat out NU and DLSU on a prized recruit who was a scoring champion when he was in High school. Look for this scorer to lead the ICOns
San Sebastian - coach Ed Mac's system is what makes this team good, without its two MVPs they have gotten enough players to replace the graduating players and even beat out informatics in one of the pre season games
STI - well I have mentioned our line up and hopefully we can prepare well for the NAASCU wars
AMA, UMAK, PLP, SCC, LSB, NEU are all rebuilding and will most probably remain the bottom six in the league
stay tuned

That should be PG Justin Antes. He tried out for the Red Lions last January but did not get serious consideration as he is already 22 years old and would still require one year residency. I think he would have earned a spot in any UAAP or NCAA team had he shown up a couple of years earlier.

One of the favorites for the NAASCU is CEU. Coach Mon Jose is one of the close friends of Coach Vic Ycasiano. They are both deputies of Coach Eric Altamirano of the National Team. I believe both coaches know who each one got for their respective teams so malamang masaya ang NAASCU this year.

The Father Martin's Cup campaign of the STI College Olympians is now having a better twist. The Olympians have lost three and won three with the wins coming from EAC-Cavite, San Beda Alabang and Ateneo B,the losses were against RTU, Adamson and Mapua. Just last sunday the Olympians won against Letran. With just a game to go the Olympians might sneak in the quarterfinals if ever some twist of fate happens. Wish us luck.

For the first time in STI History, the STI College Olympians beat the Letran Knights 64 - 49 last sunday
at the San Beda Gym in one of the games of the Father Martin's Cup. This is a positive note in preparing for the 10th NAASCU. To know more about the game click here

Just recently the STI College Olympians Seniors team played two practice games against a UAAP Squad and an NCAA Team.
The Olympians lost out to the NU Bulldogs as Sean Mbe scored at will. Mbe fired 23 points as he led the Bulldogs to a 72- 60 win over the Olympians. Its nice to note that Mbe once donned the Olympians uniform in the second semester of 2008. Henry Atanga - Betayene led STI with 16 points as the two 6-7 Cameroonians battled each other.
The other game this morning was against the EAC Generals. The Olympians led from start to finish and fashioned out a 70 - 67 win against the Generals. Maclean Sabellina led the Global CIty based squad with 15 points while Norman Ihalas added 12 points.
Stay tuned for more practice games to come

Sir Mhel, nakita kong naglaro si Henry Becayent sa MBL-Open last summer as member of Wang's Ballclub.

Kaya I dont see any problem with that

Can anyone confirm that Henry Betayene is now part of UE Red Warriors Team B serving his two year residency and ready to play in Season 75 (2012)

It is confirmed. Henri Atanga-Betayene has already transferred to UE, he is already playing for the Warriors in the FMC. The second player decided to stay in STI.
Thanks
