School-based leagues like the NCAA and UAAP have to ban those professional screaming faggots who are paid to shout and act crazy for certain clients este players during games. It's totally classless and a mockery of the schools' time-honored cheering traditions.

I totally agree. Nakaka inis!

Adamson fanboy Hector comes to mind. :D

Just wondering if he is officially connected with that school. I noticed that he wears a UAAP-issued ID.

Its ok to let these guys be. As long as players are also allowed to beat the shit out of them after the games.

One other thing people might not know about these professional cheerers is that they actually all know each other. As much as they project that they are rooting for rival teams and are at each others throats during games, during halftime and after the games they are all gathered together as one group and having a few laughs and even getting a bite to eat as a group.

True, they have no loyalties per se, but it is also true that they do know and appreciate the game of basketball. You'd be amazed during timeouts how they sometimes dissect plays and even analyze what went wrong for the trailing team and what went right for the leading team.

To me, this is really no different than the "hatak crowd" syndrome (requiring students to watch games so that they can cheer on TV to give the team some semblance of crowd support, as partial fulfillment of school requirements) plaguing lots of schools.

lalo na ang mga bata, grade school. Nakaka-awa. Ito ang dapat bagong adhikain sa NCAA, no to child labor!

Although off-topic nato, since "amateur cheerers" lang sila.

At least you know where the hataks' loyalties lie. These paid cheerers are loyal only to those with the moolah. There's this one gay who use to cheer for UST (c/o of the guy they call boss Ronnie) but is now cheering for either UE or FEU. Si Hector mismo. Sabagay Hector is consistent. He is consistently blue. I forgot his name. Ok lang kasi nakikinabang din ako minsan kasi pag 2nd game ang Ateneo at yung first game yung gusto kong panoorin he would let me sit on his reserved seats.

Bonus trivia on Hector the penetrator: He was once banned in the Arena for... just being Hector :D.

The famous Hector. Favorite spot niya sa patron, behind the basket.

Other trivia I've heard about Hector, aside from his being an Adamson alumnus, is that he was a huge fan of Magnum Membrere, and cheers for the blue and white (henceforth, whenever I say "blue and white," I refer to the Ateneo de Manila, unless I say so otherwise, hehe) on occasion. Last season, he seemed to become an Ateneo fan more and more.

while waiting for an admu game, i had the benefit of siting beside hector during one adu-feu game. him on one end behind the goal, his counterpart behind the other goal. awayan at alaskahan sila, dinig ng buong crowd, minsan wala na sa game yung alaskahan, i.e., " may utang ka sa akin ng P4,000!" ;D quite entertaining, actually,

after the first quarter, mukhang nagkapikunan, habang kinakausap ako ni hector, the feu guy comes all the way around the court, at hinampas niya si hector with his tarpolines ! sabay away bakla, dada ng dada sila, habang palayo ng palayo :D :D :D "bayaran mo ako ng utang mo, P4,000", "wala akong utang sa yo, bakla, bakla!!!!...." etc.

all i can say, it was the only thing i remember of the game :D. and for the first time in my uaap experience, i was dumbfounded ;D

Hector is also a Mike Gamboa fan. I actually got to chat with him one time during a lull in the action; I think it was during UP's opening game last year. To my surprise, behind all those theatrics and hysterics, he knows his basketball and can dissect a game fairly well.

I actually have no problem with these people. Nakakaaliw nga eh.

falling in line for tickets at the first ADMU-DLSU game last year, there was this young man in line ahead of me. we got to chat, and he explained later on that he was just filling in for his uncle, who was coming in from work at PHIVOLCS. i had my suspicions that the uncle was, in fact, "tita" hector ;) because in the fil-oil summer cup of that same year, hector was seated next to us, and he often complained how hard it was to get away from work to watch the games. he kept pointing to the ateneo bench, "yan si yuri, yan si jai, mga kaibigan ko yan." "yuri! jai!" he calls out to them as we are in lower box. yuri, hearing hector, waves back and points out hector to jai. jai covers himself with a towel ;D.

so back to our line in araneta. lo and behold, the "happy" one comes along at around 11 PM ;D. naalala naman niya ako. we chit-chat for a while. says he needs the extra tickets for some friends as he has a pass already. "bigyan kita minsan ng pass, kuya," sabi sa akin. "'ba, wala akong problema diyan," kako ;D. huwag lang may kapalit ;D. by 7 AM the following day, when the ticket booths are about to open and all hell had broken loose, hector spies someone of his "kind" trying to get ahead in the line. "hoy bakla! sisingit-singit ka diyan!" sigaw siya ;D ;D ;D. eventually, he gets the yellow-shirted security toughies to haul the other guy/gay out of line, but the exchange between them is hilarious -- and totally inappropriate for discussion here :D :D :D.

it's that time of the year again. and i for one will be happy to see our good friend hector once again.

In the 2nd half of the AdU-DLSU game yesterday, after Webb was called for a foul on an AdU player, Hector got out of his seat and as he is wont to do gave Webb a piece of his mind.
by saying, "Anong ginawa ko?"

What's surprised me is that, immediately thereafter, I saw was the DLSU UAAP rep (Br. Oca? yung naka bright yellow shirt) approach Hector and mukhang pinagalitan.

Hi elvis. Pls be reminded to desist from maligning a school's name (DLSU above) by not posting its correct name specially in a neutral forum. We give some leeway in squad-support sites although still subject to the general rules set forth.

Consider this as your first warning. Thanks.

the gameface system gave me a warning that no one has posted in this thread for the last 120 days at least, and therefore i may want to start a new topic.

e di ko alam kung saan ko ilalagay ito. but since it's about professional cheerers or a reasonable facsimile thereof, can i just post it here? ;D

ito naman ay tungkol sa mga professional bands. i'm talking about the horn section that some schools (or at least 1 school that i have particularly noticed) bring into the game venue. the band members appear to be in their 50s or 60s, and unless the schools bringing them in can certify that these guys are alumni, i'd say they were paid to toot their horns in there.

is there a rule in our respective varsity leagues that governs this kind of practice? or, maybe none, following the legal maxim that what the law does not prohibit, it allows -- the same maxim that applies to unbridled recruitment of college varsity players these days.

I remember ginawa ito ng SBC noong game against Letran where we lost. . .2 or 3 years ago. . . It was very distracting kasi parang wala sila sa lugar. . .
