www.boholchronicle.com

Bohol Wisdom School garnered three separate victories in the opening of the 14th Bohol Schools Amateur Athletic Association (BSAAA) 4th Graham C. Lim Basketball Challenge at the UB gym.

Initial victory came at the expense of newcomer Royal Christian School which the Golden Dragons made an easy prey, 84-32 as fancy Ponpon Uy ignited a break away as the rest of his teammates scored unmolested as they encountered no slightest opposition.

Freshman Kevin Mascarinas showed his potentials as he defied the opponents with his barreling drives to the basket.

Although the Golden Dragons has no big man to show other than new recruit Janssen Uy, but however the boys from F. Rocha Street were not in the thick of their fight onslaught to the Golden Dragons' first victory.

In the same vein, another newcomer Bohol International Learning Center Phoenix A suffered a setback at the hands of the unpredictable Bohol Wisdom School Vanguards, 52-40.

The Phoenix A fought to the hilt as if they were veterans as the Vanguards were struggling in the first canto to stay in the driver's seat at the end of the first junta, 9-7.

But in the 2nd quarter the vanguards led by speedster James Yu surged ahead at 23-16. From there they never looked back as the diminutive Alexis Gallardo took charge in the last canto to give his team the win.

Other results: Grace Christian School Mini Eagles nipped Bai Cristobal Camp, 45-33.

Hotshot Peter Dalagan top scored for the mini Eagles with 18 big points.

Bohol Wisdom School Mini Dragons routed sister team Bohol Wisdom School Mini Vanguards, 54-21.

The opening rites was graced and keynoted by the ever energetic and sportswoman Cecilia Rebosura, the municipal mayor of Antequera.

Bohol Wisdom School Golden Dragons edges out stubborn newcomer Bohol International Learning Center Phoenix A, 70-62 to take solo lead in the on going 14th Bohol Schools Amateur Athletic Association (BSAAA) 4th Graham C Lim Basketball Challenge at the BWS gym.

The Golden Dragons with top gunner Ponpon Uy displayed brilliance in his brand of basketball fought like wild tiger as he scored unmolested to put it team at a distance at 20-10.

But the fighting Phoenix A starring Rolando Pabutoy, Jude Melancolico and John Laureano joined hands to put the score within reach at 30-34 in the 2nd canto.

The Golden Dragons ran their famous 1-2-1-1 -trapping defense to no avail as Laureano waxed hot and was unstoppable despite the defense put against him.

Despite the rare diminutive combination of Alexis Gallardo, James Yu, and Louis Dalagan BWS Vanguards were not able to contain the attack by Tagbilaran City Science High School Virus Max Anora, Gregorio Seroje, and Ranny Manug to yield to 73-48.

Jen Israel, the coach of Tagbilaran City Science High School Virus successfully pulled surprise when he made a tremendous combination to demolish the Vanguards.

But however, the Golden Dragons shifted its defense from trapping to 2-3 tight zone man to slowly pull away.

With the shift in defense the Phoenix A could not get their offense going to collapse, 70-62.

Bohol Wisdom School Mini Dragons survived a threat by the Grace Christian School Mini Eagles, 35-26 in the on going elimination round of the 14th Bohol Schools Amateur Athletic Association (BSAAA) 4th Graham C Lim Basketball Challenge at the BWS gym.

The Mini Dragons were struggling in the first three quarters as the much taller Mini Eagles dominated the boards thus preventing the run and gun game of the former. All that they could was to tie the count at 22 as the game went into the fourth canto.

The undermanned Bai Cristobal Camp Mini team dumped a lackluster five of the BWS Mini Vanguards, 74-37 to notch their 2nd victory in the 3 outings.

Christian “CJ” Galido, a native of Tabuan, Garcia Hernandez, despite his bulk, led the assault of his team as he played as if there was no tomorrow defending, assisting his teammates, and scoring with authority to catch their opponents flatfooted.

Galido got able support from Kyle Aro and Charles Arat who played the game of their lives also.

Halagao lifts SIHS past UB in OT; BILC wins
www.boholchronicle.com

Roderick “Bata” Halagao, the skipper of the San Isidro High School Monkeys, lifted his team past University of Bohol Baby Lemurs, 82-81 to maintain a clean slate at 3 wins 0 loss in the ongoing elimination round of the 14th Bohol Schools Amateur Athletic Association (BSAAA) 4th Graham C. Lim Basketball Challenge at the BWS gym.

The Baby Lemurs were in control of the game that saw them in the driver's seat until the uprising ignited Halagao, Roy Ampog, and Sergio Cuevas in the closing minutes which gave the Monkeys the first taste of the lead at 71-73.

But then Baby Lemur Gil Indoyon with 6 ticks left fires a highly spirited perimeter basket to tie the count at 73 as time expires.

Doydoy Huan, the prized recruit of Bohol International Learning Center Phoenix A fearlessly fought to the hilt as his team dumped the Grace Christian School Eagles, 77-59

Huan got able support from his teammates Edrick Laureano and Kent “the stone man” Estorosas to notch victory.

In the ensuing extra period, the wards of Coach Carlo Cresenco committed errors as Pedro Pindang and John Refamonte lose the ball after getting it as the hustling Monkeys led by Halagao continued to press them.

But despite the pressure the Monkeys applied against the Baby Lemurs the former can not make a break away as the latter were on the alert to get back to their defenses every time they committed errors

And with a few seconds left in overtime, UB grabbed the lead at 81-80. But Halagao made a powerful drive to the basket as the buzzer sounded to nail the final count at 82-81.
