View Full Version : All-Time Visayas-Mindanao Pro Team

* * *WHO are the best professional players to come from the Visayas and Mindanao since 1975?* This covers both the PBA and the old MBA.

* * *Let's set the parameters -- the player must be born in the Vis-Min area and has studied or spent a significant time of his life in the Vis-Min area.* Therefore, Vis-Min players who played varsity and commercial ball in Metro Manila are included in this discussion.* By the way, Fil-foreigners who trace their parents' roots to the Vis-Min area are not included!

* * *Unsa'y hunahuna mo? ;)

Arnie Tuadles (unknown before he broke into the PBA). Abet Guidaben and Bernie Fabiosa were likewise straight from the Visayan commercial leagues into the PBA.

I'd have to go with Abet Guidaben at center, Mon Fernandez and Dondon Ampalayo at forwards, and James Yap and Dondon Hontiveros at guards.

Those MICAA and early PBA San Miguel teams were mostly manned by Visayan players. The following made an impact in those early years:

Manuel Paner
Estoy Estrada
Yoyong Martirez
Willie Velasco
Jess Migalbin
Marlowe Jacutin
Worley Cuevas
Tony Torrente
Salvador Ramas
Biboy Ravanes

Aren't Yves Dignadice and Ken Bono from the Ilonggo provinces?
