There are seven teams that can still possibly qualify for the semifnals plus the Olivarez College Sea Lions who still have an outside chance but their fate is not in their hands. The race for the top 4 slots is tightly contested this year and it seems 7 wins is the magic number to get at least a tie for the 4th spot.

Teams with 3 losses cannot afford a 4th loss or this will practically diminish their chances of landing a semis slot. This means that ACSAT has to win on Saturday vs. PATTS. The PUP Maroons have to sweep their remaining 3 games. And the La Salle Patriots also need to sweep their last 3 games starting with the winless Universidad De Manila today at 12 noon.

The EAC Generals have 4 games left starting with the NCBA Wildcats today. The Generals have been inconsistent during the tournament as evidenced by its 4-2 record with losses to the ACSAT Lightnings and SFAC Doves. General's main man Ronjay Buenafe has been magnificent in carrying the scoring load but needs support from troubled big man Gester Ebuen, Alain Musni and John Valderama.

The defending champion Doves of St. Francis are more or less assured of landing a spot in the semis. However coach Gabby Velasco would want no less than a twice to be advantage and an eight win could probably secure the number 2 spot. The team is bannered by big man Raymund Ilagan who ably supported by swing man Leo Losentes, Andee Ticzon and Rex Leynes.

Coach Leo Isaac's Arellano University Chiefs are playing like a well oiled machine. With victories over the ACSAT Lightnings, NCBA Wildcats, PSBA Jaguars as a partial list of their victims. Their only blemish in their record is a loss to the PATTS Sea Horses. The Chief's have still to play the other strong teams in the tournament and will be relying on slotmen Gio Ciria Cruz, Orlando Daroya and the sweet shooting Alfie Martinez.

The ACSAT Lightnings have been making noise in only their 2nd year in the NCRAA tournament with victories over the EAC Generals, La Salle, NCBA, PSBA, UDM, and Olivarez College. However losing to current league powerhouses SFAC Doves, PUP Maroons and Arellano University. Coach Ricky Alcantara's wards should come out with their best game on Satruday versus the Sea Horses to prove that they are not just merely a "good" team.

PATTS owns the distinction as the only team to have beaten the Arellano Chief's so far this season but it does not end there. Coach Manny Mendoza gets firepower from main men James Abugan and RK Cui but needs ample help from their supporting cast. PUP and La Salle are teams that are built around their big men. Namely the high flying Jeff Khalili for the Maroons and bull strong Rovie Ryd Baguio for La Salle.
