Welcome to Metro Basketball!

Firstly, let me express the sentiment of the Board of Directors of MBT to thank all the teams, players and specially the sponsors who have been with us and helped us make Metro Basketball a success. We have committed our time and resources to continuously improve our organization to have a more efficient and enjoyable tournaments.

The participants this year has been overwhelming with 58 teams in the 1st Conference and currently in the on going 2nd Conference we have 72 teams registered. That's a total of 130 team participants already, a record field with the 3rd Conference still to come.

Our Women's Division has also gained ground considering the very best teams and players are now playing with us. And with 16 teams currently in our roster, the Metro Women's Open is now the biggest and well attended women's amateur basketball league in the country.

Dear Sir:



Your team is invited to "HOOP WARS" 2006 METRO OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP, the 3rd Conference of MBT series of tournament for the year. A friendly basketball competition played under FIBA rules and officiating managed by METRO BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS, a non-stock non-profit sports organization. Games are scheduled Saturdays between 1 - 10pm and Sundays between 1- 10pm at METRO GYM and Reyes Gym in Mandaluyong City. Opening date is set on August 26, 2006.

Teams will be classified to divisions: Division A, B, C & D. There will be a minimum of 8 teams per division, each team is guaranteed to play at least 7 to 9 games, no cross-over matches between divisions. Single round eliminations, top 4 teams go to semis and finals. Teams will be subject to screening and pre-qualification. Details of tournament rules and format will be given during the pre-tournament meeting to be held before opening date.

Registration deadline is August 19, 2006. There is a joining fee of 12T/team and a reservation deposit/playing bond of 2T> is required. You can download the registration form at our website www.metrobasketball.net and pay the 2T reservation deposit thru any Banco de Oro branch under Account name: Metro Basketball Inc. C/A no.000288026988 to assure your team of a slot. You can also secure or submit your reg. forms and pay directly at Metro gym reception desk.

Teams/Players Qualifications:


DIVISION A. Open Division. Open to all players. commercial and/or collegiate teams.

DIVISION B. For the very competitive teams. No current PBA, commercial or collegiate players. Ex-commercial and collegiate players are qualified to play only if they have not played in any commercial or collegiate league for at least 3 years. Ex-PBA at least 5 years.

DIVISION C. For the moderately competitive teams. No current PBA, commercial or collegiate players. Ex-commercial and collegiate players are qualified to play only if they have not played in any commercial or collegiate league for at least 6 years. Ex-PBA at least 10 years.

DIVISION D. For the lightly competitive teams. Players suggested height limit less than 6 ft. No current pba, commercial or collegiate players. Ex-commercial and collegiate players are qualified to play only if they have not played in any commercial or collegiate league for at least 8 years. Ex-PBA at least 15 years.

MBT WOMENS LEAGUE. Open to all womens teams and players including current collegiate and ex-collegiate players and ex- national team players.

Division A. For the very competitive teams and players
Division B. For the moderately competitive teams and players.
Division C. For the lightly competitive teams and players
