mb.com.ph

AROUND 200 teams are expected to participate in the second season of the Futures Basketball League (FBL) 3 on 3 basketball tournament next month.

Dubbed as the 2008 Futures 3-on-3 Baller Battle, the tournament, which will also feature similar tournaments in Davao City for the second time and in Cebu City for the first time this summer, will have 4 categories — mini and midgets for boys and juniors for both boys and girls with the ages adjusted to the categories in the regular FBL basketball tournament.

"When we launched our first 3-on-3 competition last year, it generated a lot of interest and the response was good both in Metro Manila and Davao. That is why we have decided to expand to Cebu which is an acknowledged basketball hotbed in the Visayas." tournament director Tyrone Limon said.

The elimination round of the event will be held at the Xavier RCSC courts in San Juan on Feb. 23 and 24 while the finals will be at the Activity center of Trinoma Mall in Quezon City on March 1 with the deadline for the registration of team entries set on Jan. 31.

Participants will be receiving FBL playing shirts, give-aways from sponsors, and will play a minimum of 3 games per team while the top teams in each category get cash prizes, trophies, and other prizes in kind, added Limon.
