Congratulations to the Titans for beating University of Manila and us (STI- huhuhu). Being on top at 3-0 means only one thing, tapos na ang maliligayang araw ng UM. We do hope that we continue this trend and if ever we can catch up, who knows it might be an STI-AMA finals. Since walang Ateneo-La Salle, tayo na ang bagong basketball rivalry hehehe.

Regards to our good friend Richard de los Santos, he is doing a good job there in AMACU.

Mr. Garrido, how are you? I am very happy that STI is doing well. However, comeptetion will just get tougher and I have been scouting for new recruits for my alma matter, STI. There is this former star from the Ateneo basketball team in the 90s, Martin Lichauco or Lichaoco or Lichuaco (dont know the exact spelling). he is reportedly still in good shape and is raring to make a comeback..............with STI............at that.DO you know of this player and his skills and condition? Can he still be an asset to help STI dominate AMA? Thanks

Kung baga eh we need each other to hype up the league. Hehe. Anyway, regarding what you mentioned about BONUS, first of all there is no such thing as giving a bonus when you lose, tapos ganon kalaki. Regarding the win, yes we give an incentive but the amount mentioned is speculation. MOst teams give incentive to players in many forms, Ateneo had a trip to US to Korea etc with pocket money. Ours is just one game lang tapos they make it a big deal. Napakalaki ng 5k. Kung ganon magpe player na lang ako. The incentive is more of something that would perk things up. It serves as a motiviation to the players, pero hindi ganon kalaki. The amount you are mentioning is what Atty delos Santos of UM said in the Press Conference. Di ko nga maintindihan kung bakit kahit pag practice namin sa Rizal memorial eh parang big deal sa kanya. Little does he know that we have a tie up with the PSC.

Well, bottomline, in trying to run a winning program there are times when you have to pull some strings in order for your team to be competitive, di pwedeng gastos ka ng gastos. If there is extra money left then ipang kakain na lang namin hehehe.
Pero siyempre you still have to know where to draw the line and decide for the welfare of the school.
Ewan ko ba dito sa UM at bakit parang binabantayan ang bawat galaw namin. Siguro since tinalo niyo kami at tinalo niyo sila susunod na kayo sa pag mamanmanan nila! hehehe.
Good luck to your future games.

RE: Chito Jaime

:'(Indeed Chito is a prized find. He can shoot, drive and dunk. Hes a coach's dream player. After his unsuccessful stint in the ATeneo Summer Training, he went to EAC Manila last 1st Semester 2005. He didnt stay long due to personal reasons. He could have been a part of the EAC UCAA back to back title. Jaime Manansala Jr, who scored the winning free throw in game 3 of the championship was his partner. We wish Chito well in AMACU.

Sam Miguel

General, I hope that's not "partner" in the Brokeback sense... ;D

This is going to be a silly question: Is this Jaime Manansala related to the legendary JIMMY MANANSALA of the PBA?

chito jaime is very very very good.
30 15 against PCU.
no one could gurad the guy in the NCAA's tunner up team.
will he still play for AMA next season?
what are his plans now?

LION

With all due respect to joelex (who was banned yesterday), I doubt if Chito Jaime can do that "30 15" if Gabby Espinas were playing for PCU. That PCU team which played in the CCL is just a shadow of the NCAA runner up PCU.

At any rate, I agree that Chito Jaime is indeed one hell of a player.

jaime's performance in the recently concluded campaign of toyota letran in the PBL has really proven how underrated this guy is after falling out of the radar from uaap / ncaa teams. most of the time he finishes the game for toyota alongside more glamorous stars. the past conference should only be the tip of the iceberg as far as his potential is concerned.

now lets see how all the other teams from the NASSCU challenge AMA's main man next season.

Answer to an old old question. Yes, that Mamansala is the namesake and son of the legendary Jimmy Manansala. His oler brother, Nino Manansala, played for the UST Tigers.

In Season 8 AMA Computer University got off on the wrong foot as they lost their first game of the season without even playing a single minute on court. See the post in the New Era thread.

Sam Miguel
08-09-2008, 11:45 PM
Two ways to look at this: settle every thing on the court and to hell with the uniforms.

OR...

... follow league rules and regulations to the letter and apply the rules and regulations to every body.

Personally if it were up to me I would have just played and settled the winner on the court.

But then again of what use would rules and regulations be if they are not to be followed?

If the New Era versus AMA game had been allowed to play then I would have allowed New Era 10 personal fouls before graduating a player and 10 team fouls before entering penalty.

After all if we were to "go easy" on the rules then let us by all means go easy in favor of the team who FOLLOWED the rules.

Also, if I were AMA I'd FIRE whoever was responsible for the whole uniform fiasco in the first place. A varsity competition is a direct reflection on the schools participating. If the AMA varsity team cannot even get its uniform right how are they going to face the public with a straight face with all of their ads claiming they are a credible educational institution?

Uniform na nga lang hindi pa magawa ng tama tapos sasabihin niyo na matino kayong paaralan? Naman ...

And to think this will be televised and talked about. Tsk, tsk, tsk...

Bouncing back strong from one of the dumbest mistakes ever on opening day, AMA played a well-strategized game to beat defending champion STI in the first installment of the NAASCU Cyber Wars 74-63. Guard Robby Zablan had 20 points to lead all scorers. STI played without veteran star Mike Cabangon, out on a one-game suspension for the fighting foul he committed on opening day against UM. STI also had to go without Ramon Mabayo who arrived very late in the game.

who knows it might be an STI-AMA finals. Since walang Ateneo-La Salle, tayo na ang bagong basketball rivalry hehehe.

unfortunately, it didn't happen... STI and AMA are very good rivals in sports and in academe...
here in Ormoc, AMA vs. STI is always one of the most awaited duels... it's very good they belong to the same league...

I wonder why AMACU in Manila can't come up with a much more solid line-up to compete at NAASCU? I mean, there are lots of branches of AMA and ACLC in the provinces, all those provincial branches have to do is recommend their strong local players for consideration in Manila. Players from the provinces are a lot more feisty.... fyi

^ AMACU failed to make it to the next level only by virtue of the quotient. Not bad for young head coach Nino Manasala. He is still feeling his way in but his team sure showed a lot of fight and some system in them. Last time I spoke with Nino he said he intends to tap talents from their campuses in the provinces

he should do that... that would be great... there are so many talents in the provinces and AMACU Titans could build a very formidable team in the future... here in AMA Ormoc, we were able to make it to the PCCL Zonals for Region 6... to be held here in Ormoc City on November 9-11... Letran, USJR, BIT, AMA and UC (wild card) are already in... still waiting for the Iloilo vs. Bacolod Regionals...

I think i saw the 6'4" guy he is a transfer from UST (my beloved almamater) i think AMA could use their UST cpnenction for surplus players from the latter...since I think soc and other new recruits of the tigers will bump out some players in their team be perhaps AMA can capitalize on it by getting those palyers to play for the school...
