Calilan quits as JRU coach

WITH JUST two weeks to go before the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) season starts, Jose Rizal University basketball coach Cris Calilan has reportedly left the team and took most of his players with him.

Commissioner Jun Bernardino said he visited the JRU tune-up match against host College of St. Benilde last Wednesday and was told by the team that Calilan had indeed resigned unceremoniously.

Calilan is reportedly transferring to another school in another collegiate league. Jimmy Mariano is being eyed as his replacement. Marc Anthony Reyes

Just to keep this thread updated, Ariel Vanguardia got the nod as Jose Rizal head coach for NCAA 82. At the time of his appointment, Coach Vanguardia was an assistant coach at Letran. He has also served as an assistant coach with Talk N Text in the PBA and the Manila Metrostars in the MBA.

Coach Calilan was there to support his son Jeff, a player of the Heavy Bombers.
